Trayon White Wins Ward 8 Democratic Primary

Anacostia, DC—Today, Ward 8 Democrats selected endorsed Ward 8 Democrats candidate Trayon "Ward Eight" White to be the Democratic nominee for the Ward 8 City Council.
White won decidedly in a crowded five-way race that included current incumbent LaRuby May, as well as candidates Aaron Holmes, Maurice T. Dickens, and Bonita Goode. White will go on to compete in the general election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.
Other Ward 8 Democrats endorsed candidates that won their primary races tonight were Eleanor Holmes Norton for the DC Delegate to Congress, and Franklin Garcia for Shadow Representative to Congress. At-Large Councilmember Vincent Orange, who won the Ward 8 Democrats' endorsement this spring, lost his reelection bid by a slight margin to fellow At-Large candidate Robert White.
The Ward 8 Democrats Executive Board congratulates the primary winners and invite all candidates to a join the organization at a unity luncheon on Saturday, June 18 from noon to 2:00 pm at the R.I.S.E. Center in Congress Heights.
